WOODCOM AND
SUSTAINABILITY
WOODCOM believes that reforestation is one of the safest ways to sustainable development and to the permanent supply of raw materials for the wood industry. Therefore, its products are certified with FSC ® (Forestry Stewardship Council). Among the advantages of an FSC certification system are complete evidence of the flow of material from the forest to the final product (chain of custody); use of well-defined criteria for responsible forest management; annual monitoring of all organizations that make up the chain of custody; transparent procedures, public information and third-party appeal procedures and worldwide applicability.
WHAT IS REFORESTATION? Reforestation is a technique that consists of repopulating areas that had their vegetation removed by the forces of nature or human actions. In the timber sector, wood from reforestation of fast-growing trees such as pine, eucalyptus, taeda and teak is used. This avoids cutting down native trees, contributing to the preservation of the environment. In addition, reforestation areas are “carbon sinks” on a large scale.
With the expertise of professionals who have been working for 2 decades in the wood market, WOODCOM has become a reference thanks to its strict standardization of products, according to a wood classification system, separating them by species, measures, knot controls. and specific characteristics of each part.
